Meet Jenn and the Adventure Crew!
Jenn is a local mom to an 8 year old girl and 4 year old boy. They love exploring Austin and finding family friendly fun. I highly recommend checking out her group, the Adventure Crew, on Facebook if you’re interested in tagging along on their adventures! Jenn leads outdoor adventures with littles, weekly kid led hikes, and monthly moms only hikes!
How long have you lived in Austin?
We have lived in Austin for about 3 years.
What do you love about living here?
One of our absolute favorite things about Austin is all the family friendly fun we can have! From some of our favorite restaurants: Mesa Rosa, Waterloo and the Salt Lick, to the amazing parks: Pfluger Park, Walnut Grove Park, Old Settlers Park to the beautiful trails! We love exploring and adventuring! But, I would have never found a lot of these places if it wasn’t for my Adventure Crew! Together we explore at a kid led pace and create new friendships around getting outdoors and exploring!
Favorite place to hike?
One of our favorite places is Twin Falls. Nestled in the Barton Creek Greenbelt, about ½ mile hike in – this beautiful swim hole is perfect for big kids, little kids and adults! I find that the trail is well shaded and has just enough challenge for it to be interesting and fun to navigate – but still ok for the little ones! The real jewel though is the waterfall and swimming hole! Shallow crystal clear water slowly makes its way to deeper waters that eventually get deep enough to allow for jumping off the cliff that surrounds the deeper area. I find shade on both sides of the swimming hole with lots of area to spread out. There are a series of small waterfalls that each pool into a spa type area and lots of rocks to explore around and jump from. (always be sure to check water levels for safety.) We can spend hours in this beautiful spot!
Any tips for hiking with kids?
As always when enjoying nature – stay on the trail, keep little ones from running ahead (snakes), never leave anything behind – bonus – bring a little bag with you to pick up any littler you see. And – enjoy yourself!
Thank you so much, Jenn!
