DESCRIPTION:Join the Bullock Museum and the Native American Cultural Center in a celebration of the 13th Annual American Indian Heritage Day! \nEvent Details\nWith House Bill 174\, the Texas State Legislature named the last Friday in September American Indian Heritage Day\, which recognizes the historic\, cultural\, and social contributions American Indian communities and leaders have made to the state. The Bullock Museum\, in partnership with Native American Cultural Center\, celebrates our community’s Indigenous cultures with its special American Indian Heritage Day program. \n​​The day will feature a range of activities\, with dancing and drumming performances and interactive experiences for school groups at the Museum. For those joining virtually\, there will be digital learning resources and a livestream of the performance at 12 p.m. \nCelebrating in the classroom? \nSchedule of Events\nProgram for School Groups and Museum Visitors\n10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. \nLearn about the diversity and rich legacy of Native Americans living in Texas today.\nDiscover cultural traditions at hands-on activity stations.\nEnjoy dancing and drumming performances by the Native American Cultural Center in the Museum Grand Lobby.\nPerformances: 10:30 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 12:30 p.m.\nSchool Groups\nIntroduce your students to American Indian cultures through first-hand experiences. Space is limited\, so sign up early. Reservations open August 4. Make a field trip reservation to attend this FREE program. Email reservations@thestoryoftexas.com or call (512) 463-6712 with any questions. \nPlease note:\nHomeschool information: Homeschool groups are welcome on American Indian Heritage Day and may receive school group rates without assembling a group of 10. DESCRIPTION:Moo-ve on over to the Bullock for a “dairy” good time learning all about Texas dairy! \nEvent Details\nJoin us for this hands-on program incorporating movement\, play\, and tactile learning into engaging experiences where younger children (ages 2–5) discover something new alongside their caregivers. \nLearn about the dairy industry in Texas and Gail Borden\, early Texas settler and inventor of condensed milk. We’ll look at different types of milk and learn why condensed milk was invented through sensory and craft activities. Afterwards\, we’ll take a trip to the second-floor Texas History Gallery to view the artifacts on display that tell Gail Borden’s story. \nThis program is FREE for Members or with Museum admission.
