DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Details \nOn view April 25 through September 27\, 2026 \nExplore the iconic festivals that bring Texans together\, from kolaches to art cars and roses to sandcastles\, discover how community celebrations reflect Texan identity. \nLocal festivals reveal a lot about a community\, their collective identity\, what is important to them\, and what industries\, traditions\, and cultures are prevalent. They show the character of Texas\, and in turn\, the character of America. \nThe exhibition highlights 27 festivals that celebrate agriculture and other industries\, nature and natural resources\, and people’s cultural heritage and collective identity. Texas Festivals is broken into three sections\, each addressing a guiding question: What is a festival? What do festivals celebrate? and How do festivals create community? This exhibition reflects the richness of Texas’s industries\, geographies\, communities\, and cultures\, and explores why communities choose to celebrate what they celebrate.

SUMMARY:T. rex: The Ultimate Predator Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Explore the amazing story of the most iconic dinosaur in the world through life-size models\, fossil casts\, and interactives that bring T. rex to life. \nVisitors to T. rex: The Ultimate Predator will encounter a massive life-sized model of a T. rex with patches of feathers — the definitive representation of this prehistoric predator. The exhibition will also include reconstructions of several T. rex hatchlings and a four-year-old juvenile T. rex. Interactives include a “roar mixer” where visitors can imagine what T. rex may have sounded like by blending sounds from other animals; a shadow theater featuring a floor projection of an adult T. rex skeleton coming to life; and a life-sized animation of T. rex in a Cretaceous environment that responds to visitors’ movements. At a tabletop “Investigation Station\,” visitors can explore a variety of fossil casts ranging from coprolites (fossilized feces) to a gigantic femur\, with virtual tools including a CT scanner\, measuring tape\, and a microscope to learn more about what such specimens can reveal to scientists about the biology and behavior of T. rex. \nT. rex: The Ultimate Predator is organized by the American Museum of Natural History\, New York (amnh.org). \nImage Caption: Very few tyrannosaurs have been found that lived between 125 and 84 million years ago\, so in 2009 scientists were excited to announce a new\, mid-sized species that helped fill this 40-million-year gap.
