Celebrate National Fossil Day™ at Texas Science & Natural History Museum! Bring your fossils for in-person identification by a paleontologist (between 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm). If you don’t have a fossil, bring your questions, and get hands-on with real specimens at our touchable fossils table. Check out amazing fossils throughout the museum as well, including a 33-foot cast replica of a full tyrannosaur skeleton and a wide assortment of paleontology specimens, and get a visual overview of over 600 million years of life in the region we now call Texas. Scouts can complete badge requirement 6a of the Earth History option.
All activities are free with the purchase of museum admission.
National Fossil Day, established by the National Park Service, is an annual celebration held to highlight the scientific and educational value of paleontology and the importance of preserving fossils for future generations. Texas Science & Natural History Museum is excited to join other participating institutions in our 14th year of celebrating National Fossil Day!
