The Trail Conservancy Earth Day Jubilee

The Trail Conservancy is hosting its annual Earth Day Jubilee on the Butler Trail! The Butler Trail is a natural sanctuary in the heart of Austin that plays a vital role in our city’s environmental and ecological makeup. To celebrate, we are hosting a free, family-friendly community event featuring live music, eco talks and workshops, interactive Earth-friendly activities, a market by Austin Flea, food trucks, hourly giveaways, face painting and more!

🍸 New bar with cocktails/adult beverages
🍕 Full kitchen with food (in addition to the original snack bar)
🪓 Axe throwing for ages 16+

🛼 Rollerskating is still there in its original spot! They have improved the practice floor, which now extends the full width of the skate floor all the way in the back!
🎮 My boys all love an arcade, and this was by far their favorite one! They have a VALO ARENA (the only one in all of the southwestern US)! We spent the majority of our time playing on this thing. It’s so much fun for kids and adults of all ages! We liked the game Ground Fall the best. The Valo Arena is best described as full body mixed-reality gaming. It’s kind of like VR without the clunky headset or goggles! It’s ridiculously fun!

👀 Keep an eye out for when they announce their opening date! You are gonna want to add this new spot to your bucket list for the winter break! 🙌

📍 37th street & Guadalupe in Austin (across from Amy’s Ice Creams! (Use 507 W 37th St for GPS)

📅 Opens Dec 13 at 6pm and is open every night thru New Years

🚗 Park on local side streets and walk up. There is no driving thru this! Be warned that the parking garage behind Planet K has started towing. 😢 Try parking on side streets like Cedar & 34th St. Try going on weeknights (it’s much easier to find a spot)!

👀 Check @37thstreetlights IG or FB for updates on shows and weather. There will occasionally be entertainment like live music and dancers.

😍The downtown area is so charming this time of year. Plus there are not one but TWO spots downtown to get peppermint ice cream-my favorite!! @mslollipopparties @choccolattestx

⛸️Take a spin on the ice and stay to try the new bumper cars on ice! This was a highlight for us for sure!

🎅🏻 Stroll through the Walkway of Lights and visit Santa at Lakeside Park (next to the ice rink)!

We just love this special day trip from Austin annual tradition! 🤗

🏠 GINGERBREAD HOUSE: CARDBOARD CREATIONS 🏠

These workshops are for ages 4+ (they also have one for ages 3 and under).

📍 1830 Simond Ave, Austin

📅 Dec 11, 12, 18, & 19

⏰ 4:30-6:30pm (we stayed the full 2 hours and my son still didn’t want to leave! We could have stayed 2 more, it was so fun!)

☕️ Cookies & hot cocoa

🎨 All crafting supplies provided!

🎟️ $25/person (one house per 2 tickets) and $20 for members

This was so much fun! My son literally said “this is so much fun!” multiple times.

This workshop is genius and you won’t miss making the houses out of real gingerbread at all. They give you cookies and hot cocoa if you still want the sugar. 😜

It’s so much easier and better to make the cardboard houses. So much less frustrating! You can use any kind of glue you want (they have all the kinds). They even have colored hot glue sticks! 🤯

The best part was getting to use the “nibbler” machine which is like a kid-safe table saw.

We also loved coming up with ideas like using torn cotton balls for snow and the 3D printer pen to make icicles!
