Homeschool families enjoy free admission all day and RSVPs are not required. Explore hands-on activity stations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first Homeschool Day of the year celebrates German culture and the contributions of German Texans to Texas culture. The day includes live musical performances, hands-on activities, crafts, and a storytime.
Drop-in activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
Learn the history and German immigrant connections of nine-pin bowling before playing a round with your team
Pick your own German name
Explore the history of German music
Decorate cardboard versions of German gingerbread cookies in preparation for the upcoming holiday season
Practice pretzel making with pipe cleaners and leave with your own German jewelry
11 a.m. Enjoy a live musical performance in the Grand Lobby
12:30 p.m. Experience the exciting life of German animator Lotte Reiniger, the pioneering artist who directed the oldest surviving animated feature, with an interactive storytime in the Museum Classroom. Then, create your own shadow puppet
