Austin Kiddie Limits is BACK! We had so much fun a few years ago when we took the boys to ACL with us. Kids 8 and under are allowed in FREE (2 kids per ticket holding adult). What Is Austin Kiddie Limits?
Kids ages 8 years old and younger get in FREE to ACL each year with a paid adult ticket holder. Two kids per adult ticket are allowed. Proof of age is required for entry. Bring a birth certificate or passport for age verification. Kids must pre-register for the Tag-A-Kid program prior to entering the fest. Here’s when and where you can pick up your child’s wristband.
Once inside the festival, head over to the special zone that’s just for kids! Austin Kiddie Limits has fantastic live music and activities your kids will enjoy. The year we took our kids, they had face painting, hair spray paint, a drum circle, popsicles and yogurt samples, craft stations, games, and more. This year there will also be a Hip Hop Workshop, photo booth, airbrush tattoos, dance lessons, and more.

Where to Park
We parked at Palmer Events Center and took a pedicab to the festival. Our kids got a thrill riding in one! Here are more parking options to explore.
What to Bring
We brought water bottles for all of us. You can refill them at water stations throughout the park. Empty, reusable water bottles are allowed.
FULL BAG POLICY:
Hydration packs are allowed and do not need to be clear, but must be emptied of all liquid and have no more than two total pockets. One for the reservoir and one additional pocket.
ALL bags will be searched before entry.
Small clutch purses and fanny packs that are 6″ x 9″ or smaller do not need to be clear, but can have no more than one pocket.
All other bags larger than 6″ x 9″ must be smaller than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ and clear.
Strollers, blankets, and chairs are allowed. Hand sanitizer and sunscreen (non-aerosol) are allowed. Empty, reusable water bottles are allowed.
Coolers are not allowed. Outside food is not allowed. Umbrellas/shade structures like tents are not allowed. Pets are not allowed. Framed backpacks (like hiking backpacks for kids) are not allowed.
Pro tip:
Last year, I folded up an empty larger string backpack bag and stuck inside my pocket, then opened it up and used it inside to hold my water bottle, merch I bought, etc once I was inside and past security.
Austin Kiddie Limits
Firstly, find a map (the current map for 2024 is not available at the time I wrote this post) and locate the Austin Kiddie Limits Stage. The year we went, they had several stages with various performers, some free samples (like popsicles and yogurt), and lots of games and activities for kids. Furthermore, I liked that the area was well shaded. My kids loved the people making large bubbles. We also let our kids get their hair sprayed different colors at a hair spray station. The jugglers were impressive. I love listening to the kids join the drum circle. In other words, it felt like a cross between going to a Phish show and a Renaissance Festival.
Food/Drink
We saw a gazzilion food booths set up in the food area of the fest, and chances are you will all find something you like. However, I think the prices are outrageous, but you have no choice since they don’t allow you to bring your own food in. Refill water bottles at the water filling stations.
Crowds/Seeing the Bands
Eventually we braved the craziness of the crowds with the kids in order to get food and see one of our family’s favorite bands. However, it wasn’t too bad, we just had to keep an extra close eye on the kids. When we got to the stage, we set up in the back and even got to meet one of the band members who just happened to be right next to us! Afterwards, we went back through Austin Kiddie Limits and played some more games.
Leaving/Re-entry
If you’d like to bring your kids early on and then leave to bring them home to a babysitter and come back later that night- you can! Festival patrons can leave and re-enter the festival 2 additional times after entering. Patrons will scan their wristband and pass through security each time they re-enter the festival.
Overall Experience
I think if crowds and loud music don’t bother your kids, this is an excellent opportunity to do something really exciting with them here in Austin. Finally, we loved our experience and had a great time despite the heat, the crowds, and the chaos.
