Waterloo Park: Urban Oasis
Waterloo Park is the newest green space to grace Austin’s ever-changing landscape. It features a park, walking trails, gardens, and an amphitheater that will be home to future festivals.
This park is everything I love about Austin. Beautiful green space, music festivals, unique playground, and walking trails. What makes it even better is that you can find this urban oasis right in the middle of our bustling city. My top two favorite things are music and nature, and that pretty much sums up Waterloo Park!
Address
500 E 12th St, Austin, TX 78701
Hours
5 a.m. – 10 p.m. (hours may change on event days)
Where to Park
Park at the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage, right across the street at Trinity & 12th Street. Parking is FREE for the first two hours!
The Trails
There are 1.5 miles of walking trails throughout the park.
The Playground
The playground is small, but features unique equipment. The Log Jam is fun to climb (a bit challenging to younger kids). The Mega Grass makes you feel like you are in the movie Honey I shrunk The Kids. The slide is great for all ages.
We walked by the new Moody Amphitheater, but they had it mostly blocked off and were setting up for an event, so we didn’t get a good picture. The entire place is gorgeous and we can’t wait to go back to hear some live music someday!
