The Fleet Feet Outfitting Process
The Fleet Feet Outfitting Process focuses on providing you with shoes that fit properly. They also have gear that improves your experience and knowledge to help you move your best. Whether that’s a 10-minute walk, a three-hour marathon, or a day at an amusement park, you need good shoes. We are going to a few amusement parks this summer and really needed to get some decent shoes.
Depending on how your body naturally moves while you walk or run, the friendly staff can determine the amount of support you need from your shoes. The type of foam, arch support, and upper construction can all affect how comfortable your shoes are.
Doug helped us out at the Round Rock store. We first got a 3D scan of our feet, which told us how wide or narrow our feet were. It can also tell length, size, and how low or high our arches are. Then we did my favorite part: the pressure plate (aka the walking test)! You walk across a pad and it tracks how you land on each foot. This shows where the weight is more pronounced, how you walk, etc. Doug was able to analyze the reading to teach us about our gait pattern. We saw pressure points on our feet as we walk. This helped us get a clear idea of the way we walk. We were then able to determine the support and cushioning we needed based on the motion of our feet.
Shoe Selection
Let the shopping begin! Doug brought out 3 brands and styles for us each to try based on the data we received. He laced them up and slipped them on for us (shoe horn and everything!). I felt very pampered at this point in the process. We had a chance to walk (or run) around and test out each pair. I could even try out two at a time to help compare how two different brands feel. Then he added inserts for us (one for high arches for me and one for low arches for my husband). He also had us use the most comfortable socks in world. Socks truly make a huge difference in the whole shoe-wearing experience! After we selected our favorites (we both went with Brooks!), we picked out some socks to take home as well.

The quality of service here is unmatched! Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They all made us feel completely pampered which is something I had never really experienced while buying shoes before. I love supporting locally owned businesses, and feel like this is one I want everyone to know about! We loved everything about our experience here. I will definitely be back when it’s time to purchase our next pair! Doug says that should be after 500 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first).
