Have you ever wanted to try cutting down your own tree for Christmas? Here are a few places that will let you cut your own Christmas tree near Austin.

Elgin Christmas Tree Farm

When you arrive at Elgin Christmas Tree Farm, you will be given a tag (once you cut and find your perfect tree) you will cut it then tag it (keep the other part). A nice hayride will take you out to the cutting fields so you can begin your search. Someone will pick your tree up once you cut it, your tree will be shaken and baled and ready for its ride home. Trees cost $59 and up. 120 Natures Way, Elgin. Entry is FREE during the holiday season. Open weekdays from 1-5:30 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm

At Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm, you take a wagon ride out to the field where you can cut your own Texas-grown Christmas tree or pick a precut Noble fir or Fraser fir. Trees are available Friday, November 29 from 10 am – 5 pm, Saturdays from 10 am – 5 pm, Sundays from 1 – 5 pm, and Thursday and Friday from 1-5pm (until they sell out). 242 Monkey Rd, Elgin.

Jenschke Orchards

They have cut-your-own trees and pre-cut trees available. Check out their Christmas on the Farm event happening on Nov 30 from 12-5 p.m. $5-10 includes wagon rides, Santa, crafts, music, and more. Christmas Tree Sales Open around Nov 20th. All Cut Your Own Trees are $100. Go here for updates.

Science Mill is a kids’ science museum in Johnson City filled with indoor and outdoor hands-on and interactive exhibits. We have brought our kids here many times over the years at varying ages and they always have a good time, however I feel like kids ages 5+ will get the most out of the museum. Kids of all ages like snow though! 😉

I love combining our outings like this! Hiking and eating are 2 of my favorites.

📍 Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park, 12138 N Lamar Blvd, Austin
🥾 We did the short loop trail. We started at the playground and the trail was 1.25 miles long. It took us about an hour.
🛝 We also stayed and played at the playground both before and after the hike.

🇬🇷 @santorinicafe.atx is one of our favorite Greek restaurants! It’s 2 minutes from Walnut Creek and they have a cute dog/kid friendly patio with toys for the kids (mostly broken but my kids didn’t care). We love their authentic Greek food!
