Free DIY Workshops for Kids at Home Depot and Lowes. Home Depot’s free DIY workshops for kids are on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. On April 1, make a poolside birdhouse at Home Depot. Lowes also offers a free DIY kids workshop on the same day, where kids can build a bunny planter.
Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza City Reach Church presents “We Love Our City Egg Hunt” on April 1 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. The event features over 40,000 eggs and a helicopter egg drop. After that, enjoy petting zoos, bounce houses, music, and food trucks. Admission and parking are free!
BookPeople offers free story time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. The Saturday story times are most crowded, so plan to get there early to snag a seat.
The ABC Kite Fest is on April 1 at Zilker Park from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. It’s free to enter the annual kite contest, and the event is open to everyone.
Sherwood Forest Faire is open weekends through April 23, 2023. Kids ages 5 and under get in free with a paid adult ticket.

Kyle Easter Egg-Stravaganza The City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on April 1 from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Gregg-Clarke Park. Enjoy food, drinks, music, face painting, games, and Easter Bunny photo ops. The Easter egg hunts are particularly for children 8 months to 12 years of age. Multiple egg drops are scheduled.
Both the North Austin YMCA and East Communities YMCA offer free egg hunts on April 1, along with crafts, music, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny.
Lakeway EGGSTRAVAGANZA! On April 1 from 2-4 p.m., Lakeway City Park hosts a free egg hunt, bunny photos, and other activities.
Splash Pads at Lakewood Park in Leander and Garey Park in Georgetown both have splash pads that open on April 1st. Admission to Garey Park is $4/person, but the splash pad is excellent. Lakewood Park’s splash pad is free.

The LBJ Future Forum and the families of Partnerships for Children are hosting the 8th Annual Easter Egg Roll on the lawn of the Texas Capitol on April 8 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Your family can enjoy Easter egg hunts, ice cream, a petting zoo, photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, and more. Plus, you can help out a good cause by bringing donations of diapers, baby formula, bottles, pacifiers, sippy cups, baby powder, and other needs for the Rainbow Room, a 24/7 resource center in the Child Protective Services office.

Indoor Fun That’s Free
Living Spaces Furniture Store in Pflugerville is not just a place to shop for furniture. It also has a giant playscape inside that is completely FREE! However, don’t forget to bring your own socks to avoid missing out on the fun.
If your kids love fish, then Bass Pro Shops in Round Rock is a must-visit. They have a giant fish tank that kids love to visit! Afterward, you can bowl under the sea at Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl (not free, but fun!).
For something a little different, check out Zookeeper Exotics. This fascinating place has all kinds of critters and even a real live sloth! It’s a unique experience that your kids will love.
If you’re looking for a place to read and relax, check out the new Round Rock Public Library. The library has a great selection of books for kids and adults alike, as well as various events throughout the year.
For some indoor playtime, Brentwood Social House, Slackers Brewing Co, and Malone Coffee (Wells Branch) all have indoor play areas for kids. These places are perfect for a rainy day or when it’s too hot to play outside.
