Rodeo Rumble at Rodeo Austin
Rodeo Austin has a free Rodeo Rumble every year. It’s 1K race for kids and you get free access to the fairgrounds after the race. March 9, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
Small Wonders Puppet Show

Sherwood Forest Faire
Sherwood Forest Faire is free for all kids ages 12 and under all weekend long for the weekend of March 9-10! The faire is open weekends March 2-April 21, 2024 (and Friday, March 15). They also have a BOGO offer for all tickets every Sunday before noon! And over the weekend of March 15-17, they have a BOGO deal for all students and educators! ID required for educators and higher education students. Minors do not need to present an ID if they do not possess one.

Eclipsing at the Long Center
Eclipsing at the Long Center is free! You can try it out on March 9-12, 2024 at various times (sign up for a time slot online before you go). POINT A, artists Andrew Schneider and Annie Saunders, have partnered with the Long Center to create a new site-specific soundwalk, free and open to the public. Eclipsing was made in collaboration with astrophysicists and the local community, using recordings made from the environment and serendipitous storytelling.

KUTX Rock the Shores 2024
On March 16 from 3-7 p.m., take the kids to see a free family-friendly concert at Auditorium Shores (900 W Riverside Dr, Austin). KUTX’s Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child brings “indie music for indie kids” every Sunday evening, plus at our Mueller concert series, Rock the Park. Now, KUTX goes big for SXSW with a free, family-friendly afternoon at Auditorium Shores, with Rock the Shores, as apart of The SXSW Community Concerts at Lady Bird Lake.

Sunday Funday at The Neill Cochran House Museum on March 10 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Neill-Cochran House Museum welcomes children of all ages to a traditional activity in the lawn in front of the Museum. Join us as we make decorative paper using flower petals and seeds. All supplies will be provided, as well as staff, to help with instructions. This event is perfect for families with small children. Reservations are not required. Participation in Sunday Funday is free. Drop in anytime between 11:00am and 2:00pm to enjoy the activity. You are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy it in the lawn. The Neill-Cochran House Museum is open for touring for throughout the activity, admission required.
