Birthday Freebies 2026: Free Food, Drinks & Austin Perks
Who doesn’t love free stuff, especially on their birthday? Birthday freebies are one of my favorite tiny life hacks. A free drink here, a birthday dessert there, and suddenly getting older doesn’t feel quite so rude.
I updated this list for 2026 and separated the true freebies from the rewards that require a purchase or only give you a discount. Some of the best birthday freebies available around Austin include free ice cream from Amy’s, birthday queso from Torchy’s, a Starbucks drink or food item, a Dutch Bros drink, IHOP pancakes, an Alamo Drafthouse sweet treat, and a Sephora birthday gift.
Most of these offers require you to join a free rewards program before your birthday, so don’t wait until the candles are already on the cake!

How to Get the Most Birthday Freebies
I feel like the biggest mistake people make is waiting until their actual birthday to sign up. Some programs need time to activate your reward, and a few require you to buy something first.
Here are some tips for the best chance of getting every offer:
- Sign up at least 30 days before your birthday. For example, Starbucks and others may only require seven days, but joining earlier gives you some breathing room.
- Enter your birthday in your profile. Simply downloading an app may not be enough.
- Opt in to emails or app notifications. Some companies deliver the birthday reward by email instead of automatically placing it in your account.
- Make a qualifying purchase when required. For example, Starbucks requires a Star-earning transaction before your birthday, while Dairy Queen requires a recent purchase.
- Check the expiration date. Some rewards are valid only on your birthday; others last a week or an entire month.
- Bring your ID. Not every business asks for it, but it’s smart to have it with you.
- Check the app before driving anywhere. Participating locations and available rewards can vary.

Amy’s Ice Creams
Join Amy’s Sundae News and enter your birthday to receive free birthday ice cream. This is one of the most Austin ways possible to celebrate. Especially if you choose Mexican Vanilla.

This is a discount rather than a true freebie, but it is one of Austin’s best-known birthday perks. Kendra Scott Insiders receive:

National Birthday Freebies Around Austin
Starbucks
Starbucks Rewards members receive one complimentary handcrafted drink, food item or ready-to-drink bottled beverage.
To qualify, you must:
- Join at least seven days before your birthday
- Add your birthday to your account
- Make at least one Star-earning transaction before your birthday each year
Green members must redeem the reward on their actual birthday. Gold members have seven days beginning on their birthday, and Reserve members have 30 days. Starbucks changed this program in March 2026, so older birthday-freebie lists may have outdated rules.
Dutch Bros
Join Dutch Rewards to receive a free birthday drink. The reward can be used for one drink up to 32 ounces and remains available for 30 days.
If you create your account on your birthday, Dutch Bros says the reward should appear the following day.
Nothing Bundt Cakes
Join Bundtastic Rewards to receive a free individual Bundtlet for your birthday.
According to Nothing Bundt Cakes, the offer is available from the time the email arrives through seven days after your birthday.
Corner Bakery Cafe
Join Corner Bakery Rewards and you’ll get a free bakery sweet on your birthday.
IHOP
Join IHOP Rewards and provide your birthday. IHOP adds five PanCoins to your account, which can be redeemed for a full stack of Original Buttermilk pancakes.
Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme Rewards members receive a birthday reward in the app. Krispy Kreme currently describes it only as a “sweet birthday gift,” so I would not promise a particular number or type of doughnut.
Check the app for the current reward and expiration date.
Crumbl
Add your birthday to your Crumbl account to receive a free birthday cookie through the Crumbl app.
Because app requirements and expiration windows can change, check your account before your birthday week.
Baskin-Robbins
Join the Baskin-Robbins Birthday Club to receive a special birthday reward.
Baskin-Robbins does not consistently promise a particular item on its public rewards page, so check the app or birthday email rather than assuming it will always be a free scoop.
The Cheesecake Factory
Join Cheesecake Rewards to receive a free slice of cheesecake or layer cake for your birthday.
A food or beverage purchase is required, but you can choose from the regular cheesecake and layer-cake selection.
Chick-fil-A
Every Chick-fil-A One membership tier receives a birthday reward, but the reward depends on your status:
- Regular members: cookie or brownie
- Silver members: choice of selected desserts
- Red members: sandwich or selected nugget order
- Signature members: choice of entrée
Enter your birthday at least 24 hours in advance. The birthday reward is valid for 30 days.
Chipotle
Join Chipotle Rewards and choose one birthday reward during your birthday month:
- Chips
- Guacamole
- Queso
- Fountain drink
Chipotle introduced this choose-your-own birthday reward in 2026. The reward comes with a 30-day redemption window.
Dairy Queen
DQ Rewards members receive a birthday offer, but the specific reward can vary.
To qualify, you must make at least one purchase of $1 or more while signed into your DQ Rewards account during the 45 days before your birthday. The birthday offer appears in the Deals tab and is valid for seven days.
Birthday Shopping Rewards and Discounts
Sephora
Join Sephora Beauty Insider to choose a free beauty gift during your birthday month.
You can redeem it:
- In a Sephora store without a minimum purchase
- Online at Sephora with a minimum $25 purchase
- At Sephora at Kohl’s, subject to that location’s selection and terms
Birthday gifts are available while supplies last.
Target
Add your birthday to your free Target Circle account before your birthday. Target will add a one-time 5% birthday discount to your Wallet on your birthday.
The discount is valid for 30 days, and exclusions apply.
Kohl’s
Kohl’s Rewards members receive a special birthday gift after making at least one purchase before their birthday month.
Because Kohl’s does not promise the same dollar amount for everyone, describe this as a “special birthday gift” rather than guaranteeing $10 in Kohl’s Cash.
Build-A-Bear
Build-A-Bear’s Count Your Candles program is not a free bear, but it can be an excellent birthday deal for younger kids.
Bonus Club members can bring a child age 14 or younger to a participating Workshop during the child’s birthday month and pay the age the child is turning for the designated Birthday Treat Bear. So a child turning five pays $5 for the eligible bear. Clothing, sounds, scents and accessories cost extra.
Birthday Freebie Rules to Remember
Birthday rewards are promotional offers, not permanent guarantees. Before you go:
- Check the app for the exact reward
- Read purchase requirements
- Confirm the participating location
- Look for an expiration date
- Bring identification
- Don’t assume an old social-media video still reflects the current program
