Austin, Texas, is a city renowned for its vibrant food scene, blending traditional flavors with innovative culinary concepts. When it comes to celebrating special occasions, families with kids often look for dining spots that offer more than just a meal. They seek experiences that entertain, engage, and create lasting memories. Luckily, Austin is home to several restaurants that cater to just that. Let’s explore Austin’s best family-friendly experience restaurants perfect for those special moments.
Austin’s Best Family-Friendly Experience Restaurants
Kura Revolving Sushi
My kids beg us to dine here any time we are celebrating something and want a special night out. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar takes the dining experience to a whole new level with its conveyor belt system delivering sushi directly to your table. Kids will love watching their food arrive on the moving belt, and the excitement of picking their plates adds an extra layer of fun to dining out. Plus- robot waiters! There are a few other menu items (like fries) for kids who don’t like sushi. I highly recommend getting their app and joining the waitlist before you go! The atmosphere is casual, so no need to dress up.
The Melting Pot
Dip into a fun dining experience at The Melting Pot, where fondue becomes a playful activity for the whole family. This spot offers a variety of cheese fondues, main course options, and delectable chocolate fondues for dessert. It’s an interactive dining experience that lets everyone at the table become a chef in their own right. We like to come here when we have something fancy we’re doing that night, because we like to get dressed up a little bit fancy for dining here.
Tokyo Steakhouse
Experience the thrill of teppanyaki cooking at Tokyo Steakhouse, where skilled chefs prepare your meal right before your eyes. The dramatic flair of the chefs and the delicious flavors of Japanese cuisine make this restaurant a hit for special occasions. My kids absolutely love it when the chef interacts with them- like throwing food directly into their mouths. You will have a big smile on your face the entire time.
Yamas Greek Restaurant
This new Greek spot is so beautiful and elegant, we weren’t sure if we should bring our kids here. But we happened to go on a night when the fabulous magician was there, which was such a treat for the kids! Call ahead and check to see if he’s there before you go. He walks around and performs magic tricks at your table. Very entertaining and excellent food as well. And the patio is also gorgeous!
Honey Pig BBQ
Dive into the flavors of Korean cuisine at Honey Pig BBQ, where grilling at your table turns dinner into a festive affair. The restaurant’s lively atmosphere and delicious, interactive meals make it a hit for families looking to spice up their dining experience.
H Mart
One of our long-time favorite places for a fun dining experience. There’s a food court, so everyone gets to pick what they want. There are several cool dessert options, like the cotton candy vending machine, a bakery, and ice cream. There’s also an arcade, a toy store, and a grocery store!
Rivery Coffee & Bagels
My son and I went to a sweet tea party here to celebrate his 12th birthday. It was a charming experience and we loved every bite (and sip!) Enjoy your choice of loose leaf Tea with a 3 course menu of Tea sandwiches, pastries, cakes $39 per person. Make reservations here.
The Yard Milkshake Bar
Not a restaurant exactly, but definitely worthy of a special celebration outing! We love coming here to share a couple of over-the-top milkshakes. They have locations at the Domain and in Georgetown.
