1. Austin Public Library Summer Reading Program
The Austin Public Library hosts an annual summer reading program, widely recognized as one of the best reading challenges for kids in Austin. This program encourages children to dive into books by offering a variety of genres to keep them interested. Participants can win prizes for meeting reading goals, which serves as a fantastic incentive to keep them hooked. There are three ways to participate for Babies & Toddlers, Kids, Tweens, Teens and Adults. Sign up at here. Download the Beanstack app and create an Austin Public Library account. Download a summer learning activity packet or pick one up at any Austin Public Library branch! When you have completed 600 minutes (10 hours) of reading and three (3) activity badges, youth ages 0-17 can pick up a free book, and adults can pick up a free enamel pin at any Austin Public Library branch! 2. BookPeople’s Summer Reading Program/ Austin ISD’s 5 Book Dive
BookPeople, Austin’s largest independent bookstore, organizes a riveting summer reading program. This program not only recommends a wonderful array of books but also offers rewards and incentives for completed reading logs. BookPeople’s reading program introduces children to a diverse array of authors and genres, expanding their literary horizons. All your kids have to do is read 5 books, log them onto their BookPeople bookmark (available in-store or print your own at home), and turn in the completed book mark for a $5 BookPeople coupon. 3. H-E-Buddy’s Summer Reading Club
Make a plan to read 10 books this summer. Use this form to log each book after you finish reading it. Be sure to have a grownup initial each entry.
4. Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program
Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read 8 books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in this Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.
5. Half Price Books Summer Reading Camp Program
Half Price Books Summer Reading Camp Program is another wonderful challenge for kids in Austin. Summer Reading Camp is in full swing! Bring readers ages 18 and under to your local Half Price Books through July 31 to pick up an interactive reading log and sticker sheet while supplies last.
6. Chuck E. Cheese Reading Rewards
Did you know that Chuck E. Cheese offers Reading Rewards? Your child can get 10 Free Play Points for daily reading for 2 weeks! They also offer other rewards, such as for losing a tooth, getting good grades, and potty training.
7. Rogue’s Gallery Summer Reading Challenge
Attention Super-Kids: Rogues Gallery is excited to announce the return of our Summer Reading Challenge! The Challenge is open to kids 16 and under. Here’s how it works: Come by the store beginning on Free Comic Book Day (May 4th) to pick up your Challenge Packet, including the approved reading list organized by recommended age/reading level. Read 5 books from the reading list and fill out the Challenge Packet with your favorite part of each book. Turn in your challenge packet to receive a goodie bag full of fun treats! The Challenge runs from May 4th until August 15th. The first 10 Super-Kids to turn in their Challenge Packet will also receive a $10 Owlbear Gift Coin!
8. Round Rock Public Library Summer Reading Program
There’s a Summer Reading Challenge for every age. Earn prizes with our mobile-friendly software–it’s easier than ever to register families together and to update several individual reading logs at the same time. Register and track your reading from June 3, 2024, to July 31, 2024. Claim your prizes: June 10- July 31, 2024.
9. Pflugerville Summer Reading Challenge
Beginning on June 1, 2024. Choose ONE team challenge (Blue, Red, Green, or Yellow) for the summer. Keep track of all the time you spend reading this summer to earn points for your team. At the end of the summer, we’ll declare a winning team and decorate the library in that team’s color. Join us at Pay It Forward Pflugerville on July 29 when we announce the winner!
10. Cedar Park Summer Reading Challenge
Begins on May 28, 2024. Sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge at cedarparktexas.beanstack.org. Log the time you spend reading to earn virtual tickets to enter into prize drawings! Complete Activity Badges to earn even more tickets. Readers of all ages are welcome to participate – kids, teens, AND adults! The last day to enter your tickets into the prize drawing is Saturday, August 10, 2024.
11. Buda Library Summer Reading Kick Off
Join the library on May 31, 2024 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to celebrate the start of summer and the Summer Reading Program! Enjoy fun for the whole family including art projects, foam mania with Big Time Bubbles, the Wiggle Waggle Train and more! We recommend you bring a towel and your swim suit! This event kicks off with a Sensory-Sensitive Friendly time from 5:00-5:30 pm. We invite families with sensory-sensitive members to attend! This event takes place at Buda City Park located on 204 San Antonio St., Buda.

13. Lake Travis Summer Reading
Kick-off is on June 3, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Your adventure begins at the library with our Summer Reading Challenge! We invite you to read as much as you can – the more you read, the more prizes you’ll receive! Pick up a summer reading log in the children’s room or on the bookmobile and record the titles or time you read. Turn in your completed log for a prize from the treasure box!

15. Paper Bark Birch Bookstore in Cedar Park
Their summer reading challenge is to read 3 books (chapter books and above), fill out a review card for their favorite, and they’ll earn a sticker and PBB bookmark.
16. Cedar Park Public Library
Summer Reading Challenge: May 28 – August 10, 2024. Kids, teens and adults! Sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge! Log your reading minutes and activities online. Pick up a swag bag at the Library after you reach your first reading badge, while supplies last.
