This story was going to begin like all the best stories. With a school bus falling from the sky. But no one saw it happen—they were all too busy. New York Times best-selling author, Jason Reynolds conjures 10 tales (1 per block) about what happens after the dismissal bell rings. 10 blocks. 10 unique tales. There’s something for everyone across these 10 vignettes about identity, compassion, fear, and friendship—as told through puppetry, dance, music, projections, audience participation, kamishibai (paper theater), and more. This faithful stage adaptation of Reynolds’ award-winning book (Carnegie Medal, Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book, National Book Award for Young People’s Literature finalist, and more) encourages audiences to look both ways not only when crossing the street, but also when acknowledging the people walking by.

We stayed here a couple of years ago and were blown away by how much we loved it! The cabins are super spacious and could easily sleep our family of 5. They have 2 outdoor spaces (one above and one below) plus a fire pit for s’mores and a hammock.

Each cabin also comes with a creekside cabana to use while down by the water. Kayaks and SUP boards are available on site. (Life vests too!)

We spent the majority of the day down at the creek and at the pools.

We spent the evening at the coolest old dance hall that’s been turned into a game room and ended the night with s’mores at our cabin.

This is the perfect trip for Austin families! Not too far, easy to drive to, lots of fun!
