  • Old Baldy is a tall hill in Wimberley with stairs to the top.
  • Jacob’s Well (1699 Mount Sharp Road, Wimberley) is an underwater cave you can dive into if you dare! Make reservations before you go.

  • Hike the Panther Canyon Nature Trail at Landa Park (164 Landa Park Dr, New Braunfels) and then stay to ride the mini train, paddle boats, or play a round of mini golf.
  • New Braunfels Railroad Museum (302 W San Antonio St, New Braunfels)

Dripping Springs

  • Visit Hamilton Pool for a really cool hike that leads to a waterfall. Make reservations before you go!
  • Hiking, bouldering, and river access at Reimer’s Ranch ($5/adult CASH ONLY).
  • Have a pint at Family Business, Fitzhugh, 12 Fox, or Ghost Note (all these breweries have a playground for the kids!)
  • Eat at Route 12 Filling Station has both a playground and a splash pad for the kids, along with a slam-dunk kids’ menu.
  • Stop off and play at Dreamland while you’re in Dripping Springs for the ultimate day of fun. Pickleball, mini golf, splash pad, playground, and more!

Son’s Rio Cibolo

  • Son’s Rio Cibolo is a short drive from Austin. You can go for just a day, or stay the night!
  • They have spacious treetop cabins with kitchens, AC/heat, fire pits, hammocks, and grills.
  • There are cabanas set up along the river for easy access to the water.
  • You can use their kayaks/SUP boards
  • They have several pools and hot tubs
  • They have glamping cabins
  • They have converted an old-timey dancy hall into a giant game room, complete with air hockey, foosball, pool, and more.

Lost Maples State Natural Area

Read all about why we love Lost Maples and what makes it the perfect fall destination. Go in Late October or November for the most spectacular fall colors. Make reservations online before you go so you don’t get turned away! This is a popular spot in the fall. We did the Monkey Rock hike (there’s a rock in the shape of a monkey at the end!) but there are so many hikes to choose from.

There’s a helpful code system that has cute little animal faces to show the difficulty level. For example, my kids mostly stuck to the “Sloth” belays (the easiest ones).

🧸 Indoor/outdoor play area. Is it indoors? Is it outdoors? It’s both! 👏 Such a genius concept and I’ve never seen anything else like it. Perfect for patio season (right now!!!) but also hot weather or cold weather. It’s covered and indoors but also right off the patio so it’s sort of outside too? Whatever you call it, I think it’s perfect!! There’s so much to play with and it’s a large play area so even if it’s crowded there’s still plenty of room and lots to do!
