- See the Austin bats! They bats return to the South Congress bridge every spring, and our favorite way to see them is from the water. Check out what a bat cruise with kids is like.
- Watch the sunset from Mt Bonnell (good any time of the year really).
- Take a photo in the bluebonnets before they all disappear! Try Northwest District Park, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Brushy Creek Lake Park, Muleshoe Bend, Old Settlers Park, and the Lady Bird Hike & Bike Trail.
- Go to an Austin FC game (before it gets too hot!)
- Climb a tree at one of these spots.

Spring Bucket List For Kids in Austin
- Take your BMX bike to the dirt jumps at 9th Street BMX or Elizabeth Milburn Park in Cedar Park.
- Spring is the perfect time to try camping. It’s warm enough during the day to hike and cold enough at night to make a fire. We liked Buescher State Park for our first time camping with kids. It’s close enough to Austin that you can make it home if you really had to.
- Snap a selfie at the You Belong Among the Wildflowers mural on S 1st St.
- The Natural Gardener is a fun place to explore with kids while picking out your new spring plants. They have goats!
- Go to a local “beach” with your sand toys (like Lake Pflugerville or Secret Beach).
- Climb inside the treehouse at Pease Park.
- Climb inside the green house at Katherine Fleischer Park.
