Thinkery

Austin’s only children’s museum is the Thinkery. Be sure to bring a change of clothes as my kids always get soaked in the water room! It’s one of our favorite places out of all the best places to play indoors in Austin.

Texas Science & Natural History Museum (formerly the Texas Memorial Museum) NOW OPEN!

The place to go if you love dinosaurs and fossils! It recently underwent a massive renovation and name change- now called the Texas Science & Natural History Museum (it used to be call the Texas Memorial Museum). I used to love taking my boys here years ago and was so excited to be able to visit it again.

Go for the history and IMAX theater! They also have free admission on the first Sunday of each month!

This place just opened up at the Domain. It’s an upscale (read: expensive) indoor mini golf course that’s only for ages 6 and up. It would make a fun place to celebrate a special occasion with your older kids (tweens & teens).

This isn’t technically like a typical “escape room”, but I wasn’t sure what category to call it! It’s like a real-life physical gaming challenge. And it’s the best! You will get hot and sweaty, so wear your hair up and your workout clothes. And bring water! Try to solve the challenge in each room, and there are multiple games to play within each room! Your one hour time slot will go too quickly! Pro tip: go on an off-time so that you don’t have to wait around for an available room!
