Total Eclipse of the Park is from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Austin Nature & Science Center. NASA will be at the Austin Nature and Science Center the weekend before the total solar eclipse. All weekend you can hear NASA scientists talk about eclipses and oceans on other planets and learn the latest news from the Mars Rover Mission. Before you leave get a selfie with the 2D version of the Perseverance rover and the Mars-scape. Don’t forget to check out the ROV-E, a six-wheeled rover that will be driving about the grounds of the Nature Center. While you’re here visit the planetarium and engage in hands-on activities that will prepare you for viewing the eclipse.

Solar Eclipse Free Day at the Zilker Botanical Garden from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Experience the magic of a Solar Eclipse with free admission and complimentary solar glasses (while supplies last). No prior registration is required for entry. Guests will be admitted to the Garden on a first-come, first-served basis. We look forward to welcoming you!
In the Path of Totality: Free Concert & Eclipse Viewing at Meanwhile Brewing at 1 p.m. Join us for a live set from Sienna String Quartet from 1-3pm. We’ll have special giveaways, including In the Path of Totality pint glasses and eclipse viewing glasses. Our special edition beer, “Icarus’s Revenge” – Black IPA, will be available on draft and in cans. This event is free and open to the public. Solar Eclipse Party at IKEA from noon-2:30 p.m. Join us on top of our parking garage for a Solarbration on April 8th from 12:00pm to 2:30pm to celebrate the rare total solar eclipse, IKEA Round Rock is hosting a special solar eclipse-themed event. This eclipse will be a total eclipse when the moon completely blocks the sun. Even though the sun is about 400 times larger than the moon, the distance between each solar body creates the illusion that they’re the same size in the sky when viewed from earth. Eclipse glasses will be given out. These glasses conform to and meet the Transmission Requirements of ISO 12312-2, Filters for Direct Observation of the Sun.

SunBLOCK Party on Mercer Street in Dripping Springs from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. We’re going to have a “BLOCK” party and are closing down part of Mercer Street to create a fun and safe gathering place to watch the Eclipse. This isn’t a big festival or concert, just a nice place to gather so you can watch the eclipse with others! We’ll have music supplied by local students and some local entertainers throughout the day. We have food vendors and food trucks! And we’ll have eclipse-related vendors and more! Visitors can shop at Mercer Street stores, listen to music, purchase commemorative items and more! The event is located on Mercer Street from 10am-6pm on Monday. And it’s in walking distance to Veterans Memorial Park where our giant, life-size eclipse glasses are, for a nice photo op for you!

Living Spaces Furniture Store in Pflugerville is not just a place to shop for furniture. It also has a giant playscape inside that is completely FREE! However, don’t forget to bring your own socks to avoid missing out on the fun.
If your kids love fish, then Bass Pro Shops in Round Rock is a must-visit. They have a giant fish tank that kids love to visit! Afterward, you can bowl under the sea at Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl (not free, but fun!).
For something a little different, check out Zookeeper Exotics. This fascinating place has all kinds of critters and even a real live sloth! It’s a unique experience that your kids will love.
If you’re looking for a place to read and relax, check out the new Round Rock Public Library. The library has a great selection of books for kids and adults alike, as well as various events throughout the year.
For some indoor playtime, Brentwood Social House, Slackers Brewing Co, and Malone Coffee (Wells Branch) all have indoor play areas for kids. These places are perfect for a rainy day or when it’s too hot to play outside.

Austin has many great hiking trails for families to enjoy. Some of the best kid-friendly hiking trails in Austin include Mayfield Park, Barton Creek Greenbelt, and Ann & Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail. Not only are these hikes free, but they also offer stunning views and opportunities to see wildlife.

Austin Nature & Science Center: This free center is a great place for kids to explore and learn about nature. They can dig for dinosaur bones, see fossils, and visit with the animals.

Watch the Sunset: Head to the top of Mt. Bonnell to watch the sunset with your kids. It’s a great way to enjoy the beautiful Texas sky without spending a dime.

Racing Minds Run Club is April 7, 14, and 21 from 4-5 p.m. 3-week Running Club for kids ages 2 to 14. There will be an emphasis on personal improvement, not competition against each other. The word we will focus on this season is COURAGEOUS! This will be a series of races where we will keep track of finish order for younger kids and times for older kids. Kids can race up in their age group but not race down.
Family Nature Fest is from 1-4 p.m. on April 13 at Garey Park in Georgetown. Family Nature Fest focuses on connecting families with nature through a variety of activities, demonstrations and environmental education. Garey Park entry fees are required, and some of the activities may include a fee.
Art of Kindness 2024 Community Day at Easy Tiger East on April 14 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Your $8 ticket includes access to food, art, music, and fun galore!
